The martial arts are designed for contact fighting, but you cannot train if you're injured. This is why our curriculum is designed with Safety First. As you progress through your training, you'll learn how to practice safely, avoid injuries in conditioning and sparring, and ultimately how to effectively compete and/or defend yourself or your loved ones and avoid becoming a victim of violent assault.
We practice what is known as Partner Preservation. That's an alliterative way of saying, "Don't break your training partner." We put this idea into practice through progressive drills. You start slowly with minimum force and gradually build the tempo and power as you hone your skills. We want you to have the most realistic training possible, but we will always make sure that it is conducted safely, respectfully and responsibly.
Our focus on safety also extends to how we train your self-defense skills. We know that a single strike or kick can cause substantial injury, so our training is focused specifically on stopping the fight quickly and effectively. At Samuel Puccio BJJ, you train the way that you would realistically defend yourself, building defensive tactics right into your instinctive muscle memory so that your training works even under extreme stress.
